Environmental Impartment Liability

This policy covers an insured 's liability resulting from pollution or alleged pollution whether it occurred following a sudden incident or over a gradual period of time. The typical Public Liability policy will exclude any liability for pollution unless caused by a single identifiable event so all cases involving gradual process will be excluded, this type of policy addresses that exposure. Together with this, an Environmental Impairment policy will cover the pollution damage to the insured's own site (first party cover) as well as damage to a third party site. Clean up costs following a pollution incident can be a very heavy burden for a company to carry, and this policy would pay the costs levied by any statutory body such as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for such a clean up. An insured can also cover any past expossures that may only come to light at their site on some future date when purchasing such a policy.
